the end

[Youtube won't load if I log in]

I will not lie; this last Quarter was one that was really weird for me. I worked on a lot of stuff at the start then I needed to learn something, and then I never got back to working on things. I learned a lot, both on how to make the animation better and how I can get ready for a job in this field. I’m looking forward to picking this back up with the things I now know, and I want to make it as smooth and clean as I can.

What the story was is nowhere close to what it is now. It used to have a whole group of colorful people now it’s down to just two. I might add back more once I have time this summer.

I’ve remade the stone golem, and gave him a stone spider thing. This spider thing is the reason why the black hood dude is taken out and unable to keep fighting. I wasn’t going to always be the spider thing that stopped him. It had shifted from a lot of things but I felt like the stone spider thing jumping on his face and not let go, and then later drag him away was funnier.

There are a few people I won’t be adding back; the monk is one. I didn’t like him to much and his look and feel in the story was too different. He also dragged it on and made it much harder to animation it do it his complex way of making the tea and table.

The hooded mage is still my favorite and is one that IK can’t remove from the story. I’ve had some fun idea’s with him/her giving them feminine like moments well still have the body of am male. Also the spells are very fun, thinking of how they flow and work makes it very entertaining. Other then that I’ve made it so the mage shoots a slow moving butterfly at the golem to be the thing that stops it. Rather then before where the golem drank some tea and then fell to sleep after taking the first sip.

I’ve been meaning to go back and fix the black hooded fellow; he’s right now not built well for animating with right now. He looks cool, but looking cool doesn’t help when you don’t flow with the rest of the frame I’ve made of him as of late. Other then that he not screams like baby when the spider grabs on to his face and then runs around trying to get it off well the mage stands there and looks at him. I’m really happy with his look right now as it’s changed from being a knight like archer to a fish man to now his black hooded self. It was hard for me to tell what the heck I wanted him to do, at first he didn’t really fit too well in the start, I wasn’t sure how to best use him. I was liking how he seemed like a bad butt man, but he didn’t really get stop by the monster at first, he was planed to be thrown back so the monk could grab his cape and stop him well ripping off the cape to make a sheet for the table. Butt I didn’t want him to be hit. So he changed in to fish man to better fit his new weapon: the harpoon. The harpoon was going to shot at the golem and get his leg stuck on the rope at the same time. So when it deflated off the golem he’d go flying back with it then the monk would walk up to him pull him down by his cap and have the torn cape as a tablecloth. At on point however I mad the chose that that was a dump idea, it might have also down with the fact the monk was taken out. He was then lastly changed to the hooded man we see now because IK need to to start working on his part and I had no idea what he should have looked like so I just started making something in back and it ended up being him. I blame the elder scrolls trailers that came out for him.

The knight! I wish I kept him. He had a nice scene where when he tried to hit the golem with his huge hammer. But the golem took it from him and throws it away to the stone face that’s in the background. It was going to hit a nail that a man was holding. It would have made the stone brake just in the right way to finish the stone face. This was taken out of time reasons. And not it’s out because we’ve changed background settings.

At fist this was all going to take place in a swamp, then a light forest, then a open field, now it’s in a desert to better fit the golem.  In the last few weeks hover I’ve been thinking about changing it again to a tomb. This are things that I have not fully done and is just a nice dream I have at night well I get stuff ready for school. It’s like that sweet idea but you know will take forever to do right and really isn’t worth it, but you want to make it worth it because it would be so kick butt if you did.

In the end I’m happy what I’ve learned from it and not from it. It t’was a magical sort of slap to the face for me: This is something that was far bigger then I thought it was going to be. At lest to my quality standers it was, and it’s still not fully meting them to me so. I was at one point planning on bringing in something I was working on outside of school and taking it in to aftereffects, and I might still do that next year but for now it never happened.

It’s been a long and odd year and this was one thing I both loved and hated working on.
